i’m a little drunk on you → fabrevans
Sam’s morning started off with a groggier than usual routine, pulling himself out of bed at around 7am to get ready for work. He and Quinn had burned the midnight oil, dining on their shared favorite snack and watching another movie until well into the morning hours. A practical man would have saved the idea for another night, but Sam Evans could be anything when pratical. Especially when it came to her. Sam wasn’t entirely sure what was happening between he and his roommate lately, but he knew that spending time with her was of the highest priority. Neither one deemed it a good idea to get into any sort of relationship with someone they lived with, but in the back of his mind he oftened wondered if things would be different had they lived in separate apartments. Would there be anything then to stop him from asking her out? The confusion of the situation didn’t seem to effect their relationship though, both enjoyed spending time with the other and made no bones about it. She still referred to him as her “favorite”, and it wasn’t just anybody he’d spend half the night vegging out with on the couch.
The morning dragged on, as few customers stopped by the comic shop. Near lunchtime Sam and Quinn got in contact, and upon hearing the slow day at the store he suggested she make a trip down. He was happy when she accepted, even offering to bring lunch by for them. While dealing with a customer particularly unhappy with recent developments in the Green Lantern comic, he saw her coming through the front door and grinned. Once the disgruntled customer took off, he turned his full attention to the perky blonde and grinned at her opening remark. “Hey yourself, what’s a pretty girl like you doing in a dive like this?” Putting the comics he had in his hands down on the back counter he spun back around to lock eyes with her, giving another grin. “Thanks, I try to make sure it comes off a little geek chic. I can’t believe you really brought me lunch… you’re way too kind to me, Quinn.”
It didn’t even take a second after Sam began talking for butterflies to erupt all over Quinn’s stomach. There was something different about Sam Evans than just about every other guy she had even encountered. In a strange way, Sam had a sort of… comforting feeling about him. With other people, it was hard. She had to try more, had to make herself feel more at ease in their presence. See, Quinn wasn’t antisocial in the slightest bit of the word. Picky would be more of a politically correct term to better suit her personality. She wasn’t like Sam, Puck, or Santana. She couldn’t meet someone and be their best friend within ten minutes. She couldn’t tell someone her whole life story after having known them for a whole ten minutes. To put it simply, she wasn’t as outgoing. Now, that wasn’t to say that she wouldn’t be polite to someone. She was, however, more reserved. She liked to keep herself more often than not. She didn’t like to tell everyone what she was thinking, feeling, or doing. She didn’t like to open up. She didn’t like any of this, albeit it was any of her selectively closer friends.
And oddly enough, taking into account the fact that she and Sam had never been as close as she considered them to be now, he had a way of making her feel more comfortable than she had ever expected to be. Maybe it was because of his boy-ish charm, and the way it reminded her of the people she had left back at home - some of the only good things she could remember of Chicago. Either way, it was safe to say that Quinn had never felt as comfortable around a guy since Finn, and even then it’s arguable to say that Quinn had never felt this way about Finn during the whole duration of their relationship. “Well, well, well. When did you become such a charmer?” She questioned, a teasing smirk gracing the corners of her lips. “I think it looks perfectly geek chic, but your outfit could use some help. I fully expected you to be all done up in a costume, and I’m a little disappointed. But, really, it was no big deal. What’s a roomie for anyways?”
